2010 Breedings

In the spring of 2010, we will raise litters from three outstanding "McGoo type" females accomplished on wild birds. Striking Elhew Jessie has a litter by our proven producer of natural gun dogs, Striking Elhew Mack. Striking Elhew Dixie has a litter by Elhew Gold, a proven producer of natural bird dogs, and Jessie's sire. Both breedings represent a concentration of the "McGoo type blood" proven to produce wild bird dogs of uncommon natural ability.

Our producing female, Striking Elhew Nell, will be bred to Chokebore Blackhawk, an impressive representative of the Elhew bloodline with unique, complementary genetics. From this breeding we will keep a female pup to take back to Striking Elhew Mack, and a male pup to use on the Mack daughters that we are developing.

We will breed Striking Elhew Mack to several exceptional, well bred, Elhew females from outside our kennel in 2010. We will take a litter pick stud fee pup from each breeding, which will be available for purchase. Details will appear here as they become available.

A $150 deposit, refundable if we fail to produce the pup that you have specified, will reserve your prospect. The order of selection will be determined by the date of deposit.

Elhew Gold is one of the last producing pure Elhew sons of noted sire, Elhew Damascus. He is a substantial, powerfully built dog with an excellent temperament. He produces attractive, easily handled, natural bird dogs.

Dixie is a classy, well-made, Mack x Maggie daughter with her sire's intelligence, athleticism, and natural ability, and her dam's exceptional "nose" and character around game. She is a hard hunting, compliant bird dog accomplished on both prairie and woodland grouse. Dixie is also a strong natural retriever.

This litter represents a rare concentration of the Elhew Strike x Guard Rail daughter "nick" known to produce exceptional natural bird dogs - particularly grouse dogs. You will not find more of the "McGoo type blood" so highly regarded by knowledgeable wild bird hunters. These pups will be physically impressive, great family companions, and outstanding gun dog prospects.

Dixie whelped a beautiful litter of seven orange marked pups on February 8th. All are sold, and will go to their new homes in April.

Mack is a classy, athletic, hard-muscled, intelligent dog of exceptional natural ability. He passes these traits on to his pups. Jessie is a gifted natural bird dog with a great temperament, and near perfect conformation. Both Mack and Jessie handle kindly, have excellent "noses", retrieve naturally, and are accomplished grouse dogs.

This breeding represents an uncommon concentration of the "McGoo/Sea Wolf blood" (Strike x Kiwi) known to produce exceptional natural gun dogs - particularly grouse dogs. National shooting dog champion Elhew Snakefoot is represented in this pedigree by Elhew Jefferson, his most charismatic son. These pups will look good in the kennel, in front of the fireplace, on the ground, or on point. They will make great family companions and wild bird dogs.

Jessie whelped a nice litter of ten uniform, orange-marked pups on February 11th. All are sold, and their enthusiastic new owners await their arrival in April.

Hawk, a product of Elhew Kennel's legendary breeding program, bears a strong resemblance to his famous sire, Jefferson. Elhew Jefferson was National Shooting Dog Champion Elhew Snakefoot's most physically impressive son, and the sire of 16x Champion Elhew Swami. Hawk's dam is a daughter of the great bird finder, National Champion Fearless Bud. All of Elhew Kennel's Fearless Bud daughters were great producers. Hawk's maternal grand dam, Elhew Fly Away, was a sister to National Prairie Chicken Shooting Dog Champion Elhew Big Blaze, and 2x Grand National Grouse Champion Elhew Autumn Whisper. Hawk is a great grandson of both McGoo and his full brother, Sea Wolf - Bob Wehle's great grouse dog sires.

Nell is an exceptional wild bird dog, and a proven producer of natural gun dogs, Her offspring are classy, athletic, and point birds at an early age. All, like Nell, are natural retrievers. The Ehew Strike x Elhew Kiwi nick, arguably the most productive gun dog breeding ever made by Bob Wehle's Elhew Kennels, appears four times in the third and fourth generations of Nell's pedigree.

This breeding represents a unique and, likely, ideal blend of McGoo/Sea Wolf, Snakefoot, and Fearless Bud "blood". These pups will be physically impressive, great family companions, and outstanding gun dog prospects.

We expect to breed Nell in March, and to whelp her litter in May. Her pups will be black or orange marked, and ready to go to new homes in July.
